United Nigeria, NYSC DG Harps
The Director-General, Brigadier General Sulaiman Kazaure, has stressed the need for all Nigerians to be committed to the continued existence of the country as an indivisible entity.
He made the call recently while addressing Corps members in Enugu State at the start of his 2017 Batch 'A' (Stream II) tour of Orientation Camps.
Kazaure enjoined Corps members to pass the message of unity and love among all citizens irrespective of their diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds.
"We have no other country than Nigeria; so let us regard ourselves as members of one family.
"Wherever you are, show love to one another, and be your brother's keeper," he told the Corps members.
The Director-General advised them against indulging in vices, adding that they should be good ambassadors of the NYSC and their families.
Earlier, the NYSC Enugu Coordinator, Alhaji Ahmed Ikaka, had told the Director-General that the Orientation course was progressing smoothly, and that the Corps members had demonstrated high sense of discipline and commitment.
Ikaka enumerated the challenges facing the camp, including those caused by the vandalization of power facilities in the town and the water Scheme supplying the camp.
He appealed to the NYSC Headquarters to support the camp with special funds as it had been relying on power generator and water tanker with the attendant huge expenditure on procurement of diesel.
The Coordinator, who told the DG that the NYSC Secretariat had embarked on fencing of the camp under a five-year plan, also appealed to the top management to assist the Secretariat with a utility vehicle.
