OAO WEMA Bank Activities Suspended
WEMA Bank, Obafemi Awolowo University has been suspended over the allege arrest of Ogboyi Caleb Onuche, a student of the faculty of law, who was accused of a fraudulent bank transaction to the tune of 10 million naira and was arrested on Wednesday, 12th of July by policemen close to bank premise around the premises. Ogboyi has been earlier called by the bank official
after receiving a call for his presence over an credited alert his account (a digital bank account) and immediately transferred to the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Ikoyi, Lagos state.
However, the he was released when students and the university security unit's reacted to this situation and proper investigation was carried out which was traced to a staff of the bank, who currently custody of the Police force.
In the same vein, the bank has been issued a suspension notice in the early hours of Monday, 17th of July, 2017 for defamation of character and not informing appropriate quarters before the arresting of the alleged.
