NYSC, JAMB Address issue on regularization of admissions
A
bilateral committee have been set up to address the issue of regularization of
admissions by corps producing institutions by the National Youth Service Corps,
NYSC, and the Joint Admission Matriculation Board, JAMB to tackle a complaint
by the NYSC management to JAMB alleging irregularities in the process, thus
making mobilization of prospective corps members difficult for it.
It
was stated in a letter written by NYSC to JAMB, that JAMB should revise the
window of post-graduation regularization by introducing measures that will make
it impossible for institutions to abuse the process in observation of the manipulation
the regularization of admissions has been exposed to.
Hence,
it is now mandatory for all graduates to be cleared by JAMB to be suitable for
mobilization by the NYSC.
Adding,
the Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede Citing the NYSC letter, he noted
that the board had taken measures to address the issue. According to him, “A
new template has been designed by the Board for all candidates who need to be
regularised and is to be completed online.”
After
completing the forms online, a candidate will print an indemnity form which
must be endorsed by his / her Vice Chancellor/Rector/Provost and submitted to
the state JAMB office. This is to guarantee that only genuinely admitted
candidates are regularized.”
In
same vein, the Registrar, revealed that from the last quarter of 2016, a total
number of 953 applications for change of date of birth was received with 77 out
of it approved. A total number of 518 applications for correction of name and
