This statement
was made by the rector of the Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-uku, Dr. (Mrs.)
Edna Nneka Mogekwu while addressing a protest carried out yesterday 15th
December, 2016 at the polytechnic permanent site following a protest by the polytechnic students
led by the SUG body.

The students
complained that were being deprive by lecturer from receiving tests because of
school fees payment, the addition of N10, 000 as late payment for school fees by the polytechnic management, the imposing
of N10, 000 for late submission of student
file, N500 for late signing of student
files, the N5, 500 Jamb Regularisation payment earlier made by student, the delay in sales textbooks and the Community
Development Center/ Entrepreneur Development
(CDC/EED) payment.
In response, the
rector promised to give the students more time and assure them of taking tests
without deprivation from their lecturers. She also stated that the imposing of N10, 000 for late submission of student
file is for the 2015/2016 graduating students.

Speaking, she
promised to investigate the issue of N500
being collected for late signing of student files from students while the N5, 500 Jamb Regularisation payment
earlier made by student, she assured the
students of a refund. She added that the issue of text books will soon be
over as management has already set up a committee that will regulate the
textbook prices and that the full operation of the school bookshop will soon
commerce.
Concluding, she
promise to look into issue of the Community Development Center/ Entrepreneur Development
(CDC/EED) payment.
The students praised
the rector for her quick response, motherly love and kindness.
